On Saturday 11th November 2017, three members of the South East Essex Green Party Committee attended the Eastern Region Green Party AGM in Witham, Essex.
Vida, Clare, and James took part in the well-attended event and were part of the wider discussion of Green Party business for the Eastern Region.
Amongst the topics discussed were talks from James Abbott, Essex County Councillor, Anne Skillet Mid Suffolk Councillor, and Paul Jeater, Ingatestone Parish Councillor, all covering election experiences and campaign tactics.
Also discussed was the successful campaign in St. Albans regarding Air Pollution, a training exercise in obtaining Councillor nominations, and the wider AGM Business for the Eastern Region.
Fantastically hosted by our neighbours at Brentwood & Chelmsford Green Party, the event broached a large range of conversation topics from Social Housing to changing demographics, and the event facilitated discussion and networking between local parties.
Furthering the Committee’s desire to widen involvement in the region, Clare Fletcher was elected into the new Disputes Resolution Committee, and James Vessey-Miller has volunteered to help improve the Eastern Region’s website and external communications.

“The event was really good to attend as it was my first experience as a Green Party member of meeting with members from other areas. It was enlightening to hear experiences of campaigns run by other groups, such as an effective air monitoring campaign in St Albans. I even volunteered for a role with the regional party, as I thought it would be good for the local party to have a closer involvement with the regional party, so I will now be part of the regional disputes committee. Although we were strangers in a room where lots of people already knew each other we were all made to feel very welcome.” – Clare Fletcher
