Marine Parade Shelter Reopens After Repairs

  • Marine Parade Shelter reopens after months of council repair work, following concerns first raised by residents last November.
  • Local Green campaigner Simon Gittus and Green Cllr Stuart Allen pushed for action, thanking residents and council staff for their part in getting it restored.
  • The Greens say they’ll keep working to improve spaces across Leigh-on-Sea for the whole community.

The Marine Parade Shelter is now open again after months of repair work thanks to the local Green Party.

Residents first raised concerns about the shelter last November. Since then, council staff have taken ownership of the site and carried out repairs. Local Green campaigner Simon Gittus and Leigh Green councillor Stuart Allen pushed for the work to be done.

“It looks fantastic – the team have done a brilliant job restoring it. Thank you to residents for flagging the issue with me. I’m glad it’s back open for everyone to enjoy, and we’ll keep working to make Leigh-on-Sea even better.”

Simon Gittus, Green Party Campaigner

“We’ve worked hard to get the shelter fixed and it looks great again. Thank you to all the council staff and joiners who brought it back to its former glory.”

Councillor Stuart Allen, leader of the Green Group on Southend Council

The Greens say they will continue working across Leigh-on-Sea to improve local spaces for residents.
