This morning Green Action in partnership with Southend BeachCare conducted a Beach Clean at Shoebury East Beach.
The well-attended event resulted in 27 large sacks of rubbish being collected from the beach and surrounding grasses.
The event focused on finding and clearing micro-plastics, wet-wipes, and plastic bottle-tops – which were found in abundance.
Other notable finds were plenty of used disposable barbeques, a length of heavy chain, and a broken parasol.
It’s safe to say that with the help of the fabulous volunteers of all ages from several groups, the beach is looking sparking!
