The proposal to move the specialist urology cancer unit to Colchester has at least served to unite our corner of Essex on one topic – we all oppose it.
What is astonishing, however, is the scale of denial among the Lib Dem and Conservative administration spokesmen.
Do they not realise by putting the NHS under so much financial strain, a whole series of economies have been forced upon the service?
Greens argue the pretence and denial must stop.
Virtually everyone knows the NHS needs billions more in revenue and taxes have to rise to pay for it.
We Greens won’t shirk our responsibilities to the NHS. We will raise taxes on the rich, introduce an NHS Reinstatement Bill to Parliament and save essential services liek the urology unit.
